THE LOST TEXT
Why Was It Never Found?

(7) 1 Corinthians  16:1-3, "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem."
"Lay by him in store" means "to set aside". This is an offering for the poor Christians (saints) in Jerusalem, not for a church collection or collections for preachers. This was a personal setting aside of whatever gifts they wanted to bestow on the poor saints in Jerusalem. Whatever they were to put aside was to be on the first day of the week so they wouldn't have to be going here and there when the apostle Paul came, "that there be no gatherings when I come". There had been a severe famine in Jerusalem. Paul issued this decree to help with famine relief in Jerusalem. Does it say that it's the Lord's Day or the Christian Sabbath? Does it say to meet on every 1st day of the week and make offerings? Or does it say they were to meet every first day of the week forever after that to take collections for preachers? NO it doesn't. It was simply a one time collection for famine relief.  We need to take the word of God Just as it says.
