God spoke
all through the Bible about judgement day. He said it would come someday
for the whole world. He also said our world would end and a new one would
be created with only God's people left alive. He told us clues about how
to tell when these times are upon us. How do we know if we are now living
in these days? Let's review what the Bible says.

The United States Geological Survey
reported the following on January 3, 2008:“…it is very unusual to have
four earthquakes in a single year of magnitude 8 or greater” (the average
is one per year). However, they noted that in 2007, the following
8+ quakes did occur: 8.4 Struck Sumatra Indonesia on Sept. 12, 2007; 8.1
hit Solomon Islands on Apr. 2, 2007; 8.1 occurred east of Kuril Islands
(Russia) on Jan. 13; and 8.0 hit Pisco, Peru on Aug. 15,2007
“The USGS’s National Earthquake
Information Center locates about 30,000 earthquakes per year world wide,
or about 80 per day. About 10,000 of those events have magnitudes
of 4.5 or greater”
Even more interesting is that on
February 16, 2008 Haaretz.com reported that Israel experienced four earthquakes
within a two-week period in February. One of the tremors, of a 5.3
magnitude, actually caused a “hole in the Temple Mount Plaza… near the
Dome of the Rock…”
Jesus told us that the latter days
would be marked by “famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matt. 24:7-8)…Earthquakes are
another sign of the last days. Many theologians believe that earthquakes
are increasing as the latter days approach, but scientific data do not
support this supposition…Jesus said the earth would quake in the latter
days, and I believe He meant it would quake as it did in the past when
God moved in the affairs of men.
The Bible records at least thirty-three
instances of God using earthquakes to communicate with the spiritual hard
of hearing… And He will announce the coming of Israel’s Messiah with
an earthquake.
Interestingly, in 2001,
at the time of the printing of The Battle for Jerusalem, indeed scientists
did not agree with the claim that earthquakes are becoming increasingly
more frequent and intense…but not any longer!
Luke 21:28- Now when these things
begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption
draws near.
